Journalism Career Journey

Decades of professional reporting, shaping Middle East business press, and documenting global diaspora events.

The Redirection of Destiny

The 45-year media career of Dr. Issac John is a story of resilience and redirection. In **1979**, fresh from completing his academic degrees, he served as a Lecturer at Shankar's Parallel College in Trivandrum, followed by a brief clerkship in the Finance Department at the **Kerala Government Secretariat**.

Seeking a master's program, he secured admission to **Ohio University, USA**, in **1980**. However, due to a US Visa rejection stemming from the lack of a resident sponsor, his plans shifted.

That same year, he landed in Dubai and was recruited as a Trainee Journalist at **Gulf News**. This redirection set his path, launching him into the ranks of the senior-most Indian expatriate journalists in the GCC.

The "Pattaniparambil" Bylines

In addition to his English journalism in UAE daily newspapers, Dr. Issac John was a prolific voice in Malayalam literature and media. For nearly two decades (**1982 to 1998**), he served as the Gulf Correspondent of **Malayala Manorama**, India's largest-circulated vernacular daily.

Under his famous Malayalam byline **"Issac Pattaniparambil"**, he authored hundreds of frontpage reports and weekly newsletters detailing UAE trade updates, migrant conditions, and labor policies, bridging the GCC and Kerala.
